About Me: Torrance T. Gaucher
My name is Torrance (Torry) Thomas Gaucher and I am a total weather weenie. I am currently the Chief Meteorologist at KIEM-TV News Channel 3 in Eureka, CA. I joined News Channel 3 Jan. 2015 after attending Lyndon State College in the beautiful Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. I recently achieved in May 2014 an Associate of Science in Television News Studies with an editorial focus, and December 2014 after completion of my undergraduate thesis work I achived a Bachelors of Science in Atmospheric Sciences with concentrations in broadcast meteorology and private industry.
In the work environment I would describe myself as a team player, reliable, trustworthy, and motivated. As part of the Electronic Journalism Arts Department at Lyndon, I could be seen once a week presenting the weather on the 5:30PM news broadcast on the Vermont Center of Community Journalism channel (LSC News 7), Lyndon's student-run television station. The audience for the VCCJ encompasses the 14 Vermont towns surrounding the Lyndon campus and reaches over 9,000 households. The EJA Department (formerly known as Television Studies) offers preparation for professionals in the rapidly-changing field of journalistic storytelling across a suite of visual and media technologies.
Outside of work I enjoy sharing my passion for weather, I am always looking to strike up a conversation regarding the biggest news in weather across the country. After spending my last years in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont I learned how to ski during the winters and could be found hiking during the warmer months. I value family very much, I am the son of Terrance A. Gaucher and Shannon C. Murphy. I am from a blended home having both parents remarried, I am the oldest of six children... Brandon, Cora, Samantha, Patrick, and Lacey.
On a last note, I enjoy traveling and meeting new people. I am excited to see where my career will take me.
